Logan, Born at 32 Weeks

Logan's first week home 7-1-12

My Baby

Logan Liam De Jesus was born on 6-26-12 at 32 weeks gestational age. He spent 30 days in the NICU.

Birth, NICU Stay, Homecoming

I woke up on June 7th 2012 @6:00 am in a puddle of water. I woke up my husband and we went to the ER at Montgomery hospital. The doctors were very concerned because I was only 32 weeks and they did not have a level 3 NICU. The test came back and my water had indeed broken. Then i was transfered to Albert Einstein Medical where I remained on bed rest for 4 days. I had to sign out AMA because i had to arrange plans for my 3 other children to stay at a family member's house. Then 1 week later I checked my self back in to Montgomery hospital closer to home and remained on bed rest for 15 days. I had blood work and ultrasounds done regulairly. On June 26, 2012 Logan had a bad biophysical profile (4/8). My white blood count was slowly rising and Logan was showing signs of fetal distress. I delivered Logan Liam at 12:54pm. He weighed 3lbs 15 oz. and was 17 inches long. He recieved 9 on his apgar score. I was very scared that was my 4th cesarian and i just delivered a preemie. Logan was then transferred to St. Christopher's hospital for children. He was there for 24 days and then he was dicharged home. He was sent home on an apnea monitor and did not pass the carseat test. He had a blue spell while at home and my husband and I rushed him to the ER where he was readmitted to the NICU at Bryn Mawr Hospital. He remained there for one week. He now weighs 5lbs 9oz, paseed the car seat test and is doing well. He does have a kidney issue and a blood issue. I have specialist app this week for him. Hopefully he will outgrow these problems. He is also still on the apnea machine but has been spell free so far....My man is a lil fighter you go Baby Logan.

Advice

  • Be patient, your baby will come home when he or she is ready. Believe me you don't want you baby to come home if he or she is not ready it's is very nerve racking. My baby had to be readmitted because he was not ready. I am glad he was readdmited to the nicu. Now he is home and I can enjoy him instead of always being scared of him. He is home and he is 100% ready now!
