Making preemie clothes can be a wonderful way to show your love for the preemies in your life. Whether you are knitting a set of hats for the triplets a loved one is expecting or making preemie quilts to donate to your local NICU, you will find the perfect pattern in the links below.

Preemie hats make a wonderful gift for parents of new preemies, and knitting or crocheting preemie hats is a good way to keep hands busy when moms-to-be find themselves on bedrest. Not only can even the smallest and sickest of preemies wear hats, but most NICUs gladly accept donated preemie hats to give to their babies.

Baby blankets are a must for preemies, both in the NICU and at home. For the smallest preemies, we spread baby blankets, quilts, and afghans over isolettes as a pretty way to individualize beds while providing dark, quiet, and privacy. As preemies grow, we wrap them in blankets to keep them warm - especially during the transition from a heated isolette to an open crib.

3. Baby Bibs and Baby Booties to Knit and Crochet

It can be hard to find clothes for preemies and NICU babies that don't interfere with IV lines and monitor cords. Baby booties are one-size-fits-all items that even sick preemies in the NICU can usually wear. Baby bibs are also useful, especially once baby starts to take feedings by mouth.
