Definition: Lazy Eye, or Amblyopia, is a condition in which vision is reduced in one eye because of a lack of visual stimulation, causing the brain to prefer the images produced by the other eye. Two common causes of "lack of visual stimulation" are strabismus and cataracts. Because the affected eye is not used much, its vision becomes progressively weaker. If the underlying cause is not treated, amblyopia can cause visual impairment in the affected eye.
