Treating Reflux in Premature Infants

Holding your baby upright after feeds can help reduce reflux in infants.

Reflux is common in all babies, especially in babies who were born premature. Most reflux is mild and will go away on its own by age 1; home remedies are usually all that's needed for mild reflux. In some babies, though, reflux is severe enough to cause serious symptoms. These babies may need medication or even surgery to help with their reflux.
